The Little Black Dress
Since Coco Chanel introduced it in 1926, the little black dress, or LBD, has become the epitome of timeless fashion. It is the answer to every “What should I wear to…” question from nights on the town to family dinners to epic days in a woman’s professional career. So, why is the LBD such an essential piece in every woman’s wardrobe? Because it is magical in its transformative qualities. It alone has the qualities of: essential; flirty; chic; confident; “dress up”; elegant; feminine; ubiquitous; stylish; vogue; glamour; ageless; timeless; finesse; go-to; “it”; perfect; “wow”; classic; modern; trendy!
Since Coco Chanel converted it from the fashion of mourning to the height of style, the LBD has become a fashion anomaly, which transcends the trend-crazed fashion industry. Through all the seasons, it remains the height of chicness. It knows no social, style or size boundaries. Whether it costs $1,000 or $50, is a size 2 or a size 22, it is still a little black dress. And every woman must own at least one perfect little black dress.
