Nordstrom.com has a whole new look

Over the weekend, Nordstrom relaunched its website.  Perusing through the site, it is apparent that there are substantial teeth to the overhaul.

I have noticed updates and patches for the past several years that were clearly aimed at continuing that Personal Shopper experience that Nordstrom is so famous for.  There have been lots of video tips, blogs and interactive information.  It just didn’t hang together very well.  The makeover seems to have made the bells and whistles much easier to work with while adding a few more tricks. In the past, the site has been somewhat slow to load and cumbersome to work with.  I look forward to a slicker, faster moving site that is not dragged down by a ten year old website with too many plugins.

One of the things that really bugged me was the clutter on the home page.  Now are there are only three tabs.  And from those tabs, there is improved navigation, improved photography and better opportunities to search for inventory.  It has much more of that Nordstrom Concierge experience from the brick and mortar.  The social networking and video blogging sections of the website is aply named “Conversation.” There are plans to include local features on the site, further tying the brick and mortar to the internet in a seamless way.
