There are pants out there for every body. However, the “O” body type needs a little extra patience and a very good tailor!
The “O” body type has a full tummy. Most likely, she has a smaller bust and a flat behind. It is very important to find a pant that fits in the waist and rise without being too saggy in the back or legs. What works for her is a flat front with straight legs and no pockets. She may need to size up to fit the waist, but be sure to taper the leg and the seat. I find that she does well with a side zipper and little to no waistband. Depending on size, she may want a little elastic in the back of the waistband just so that the pants have a finished look. I look for pants that fall right at the waist and avoid this season’s high waisted pants, pleats and patch pockets. If she is tall, she may be able to get away with a boot cut but no wider at the leg. Try pants that have a contour waist and back waist darts may help to ensure that the back looks smooth.
As far as material, think fluid and drapy. I have had great success with fabrics such as a fluid crepe or a tropical weight or heathered wool. Doncaster has a fluid crepe and a particular Italian wool, Ponzone wool, which works so well. It is cool breathable and beautiful.
This pant is the best I have found for the O body type this season. It is available in sizes from a Missy 2 to a 24 Women and in petite sizes from 2-16. It is available in black and chocolate brown.
