Did you ever stop to think that the colors that you wear express a lot about you? Think about these attributes, especially when you are dressing for an event where people will pay close attention to what you are wearing.

Black is the ultimate neutral. It is flattering to every body type, stylish and timeless. It symbolizes authority and power. Be careful because it also symbolizes submission, aloofness and even evil. Gray, which is a subset of black, works well to offset black. It is also neutral, and symbolizes restful, cooling and stabilizing. White, the opposite neutral, exudes innocence, purity, and light. Offset it carefully because it also represents sterility. Brown, “the new black” has many attractive qualities: Solid, Reliable, Abundant In Nature, and Genuineness. Hmm, sounds like a tree…Oh, and brown also symbolizes Sad and Wistful.Brown is a great neutral that many different color combinations can wear well. Just take advantage of it neutrality to pop it with a happy color so that you are happy and reliable! Blue is another neutral that has been considered the color for the interview suit. Why?Because it is a color that most people can wear well and it symbolizes loyalty, productivity, and calmness/peacefulness. Again, pop it with a happy color because it can be taken to be cold and depressing. Indigo, a very dark ink blue represents mystical, wisdom, self mastery, and spiritual realization. Red is a color that has its place. Emotionally Intense. Love. Hot. Attract Attention. Not exactly “blend-in”attributes. Oh, and it will make the wearer look heavier so careful where you put it! A subset of red is pink, which symbolizes warm, tranquil and romantic.Probably a better pick for a dinner out with a love interest than the perfect color for an interview suit! The mixture of blue and red is purple which represents luxury, wealth and sophistication. Be very careful of purple in the workplace because it represents, feminine, romantic and artificial–a recipe for disaster in the wrong environment! Orange is another great color in its place.First of all, can you get away with orange in your palette. Second, do you work in a creative environment? If so, then orange represents warmth, dynamic, thoughtful, curiosity and creativity. Yellow is another “creative” color. It symbolizes sunny, cheerful, optimistic and concentration. It is also a color that speeds metabolism so it might be a good color to wear to work out it. It is a color that will attract attention and tends to overpower, so don’t wear it when you want to blend in! Green is a good color to wear in a more traditional environment (legal or financial services, for example) because it represents conservative and wealth while also symbolizing natural, calming, and refreshing. Gold is a very popular color this season, especially with the holidays coming up! Gold represents wealth, success, personal power, courage, confidence, and willpower. Color is a powerful language and command of itwill put you in a powerful position!
