Why is it that some clothes look really great on the hanger and maybe fit well and feel comfortable but they just don’t wow you? It is probably because it is the wrong color palette for you!
Whether a color is the right palette for you is determined by your hair color, eye color and skin tone; and how all of these elements play against one another. A basic rule of thumb is that clothing should contrast enough to add interest without being too stark. Read on to see if you can identify which palette you fall into.
In my business, I find that there are some who fall strictly into one group but most are a variation or combination. So, read on and see if you can pick up a few ideas about what colors look best on you!
Are your eyes gray, blue or slate? Your hair medium to deep ash brown or pearl-gray, and has little to NO red highlights? Is your skin cool beige, blue-black, gray beige, or neutral beige? Do you have soft and muted coloring? Do you wear soft white, soft fuchsia, and blue-red well? If so you are a cool summer. You are Soft Summer if your eyes are gray-blue or hazel; your hair is light to medium ash brown and may have some blond or gray; your skin is light to medium neutral beige and your coloring is soft and muted. You wear warm pastel pink, true green, and true blue well and golden delicate tones suit you best.
If your eyes are brown, olive green, or dark hazel; your hair is medium golden brown, red, auburn, or deep golden blond; and your skin is bronze, golden beige, ivory, or warm beige, and may be freckled while your coloring is deep and rich, then you are a warm autumn. You look sensational in golden, spicy colors such as terracotta, forest green and tomato red.
Are your eyes are dark brown, dark hazel, or dark green and hair is dark brown or deep chestnut? Is your skin bronze, ivory, golden beige, and NO obvious pink or peach undertones? Are your eyes are black, black-brown, or dark hazel? Is your hair black-brown, steel gray, or salt & pepper? Is your skin beige, black, black-brown, olive, and NO obvious pink or peach undertones? If so, you are deep winter and you wear fuchsia, pine green, and royal blue, magenta, icy pink, and cranberry well. You dazzle in clear, intense colors such as true red, emerald green and sapphire blue and the dramatic contrast of pure white and black is one of your favorite choices.
Is your hair is medium to dark (black, medium to dark brown, and may have some red highlights) and your skin translucent? Are your eyes jewel-like, and either bright blue, violet, or emerald green? If so, you are clear winter. You dazzle in clear, intense colors such as true red, emerald green, and sapphire blue. The dramatic contrast of pure white and black should be one of your favorite choices.
