Slinky Black Cocktail Dresses from Muse at eDressme.comI can’t believe its already August.  In just two weeks, my kids will be back in school and we will be starting to think about Fall.  The stores have already launched their Fall lines.  Yet, its still hot outside.  As I prepare to head to the eWomen Conference in Dallas, my thoughts are on transitional dressing for the current season and the Fall season that is just ahead. So, of course, I’m thinking about the perfect LBD.

This LBD is the perfect solution.  It is still very cool.  For the remainder of the season, pair this LBD with strappy sandals and summer jewelry.  Then, as the season begins to change, switch out to tights, a jacket and jewelry.

Our friends at eDressMe are in complete agreement.  Here is what they have to say about this perfect LBD

Are you looking for the perfect little black dress? If so, this style from Muse is it! This dress is sleeveless with embellished tank straps. The dress has a gently V-neckline and a fitted bodice and midriff. This polyester dress can fold up and travel anywhere and looks great over tights in cooler weather.

May is travel month at GlamourByLBD!  To get things started, I asked Kathy Liccardo, who is my travel agent and owner of Liccardo Travel if she could share her Travel Tips for this season of challenged summer travel.    Print this out and keep it with you as you are planning your summer travel!

Keep up with new airport policies.   For example, effective 01/01/2008, no loose lithium batteries are allowed in checked luggage.

Tag your bag with bright colors to make it easier to find.  Make sure all of your luggage has address tags.

Register your travel plans with the State Department at https://travelregistration.state.gov  This allows you to record information about your upcoming trip abroad that can be used to assist you in case of an emergency.

Use the Internet to print your boarding passes to skip lines at the the airport and save time.

Contact your credit card company to let them know where you’ll be travelling abroad to ensure that card purchases in other countries will not be declined.

Use only TSA approved locks to avoid delays and prevent the destruction of the locks during inspections.

Leave gifts unwrapped until you arrive at your final destination for security purposes.

Keep a copy of your itinerary in each piece of checked luggage.  In case of loss, the airline will be able to easily identify which pieces are yours and where they should be sent.

Stay at an airport hotel the night before your early flight.  This will save time and frustration the morning of travel.  Many hotels offer complementary shuttles and a few offer “Park and Fly” packages where parking while on your trip is included.  Contact Liccardo Travel to learn more about this service.

Beware of short connection times when booking your flights, especially in winter months, as delays and missed connections are more likely.  Note from LBD:  Flying through Dallas, Atlanta and Chicago in the summer is not always much better!

Check your airline’s luggage requirements.  Many airlines have begun to charge extra for more than one checked bag.

Be aware of policies for size and amount of carry-on luggage as requirements differ between airports and countries.

Keep medicines (both prescription and OTC) in their original labeled containers to avoid holdups at security checkpoints.

Charge your cell phone and pack your charger.  Take important numbers with you.

Avoid wearing heavy jewelry, large belt buckles or clothing with metal buttons, snaps or studs.  Put metallic items into your packed luggage to prevent delays getting through security at the airport.

Use ATMs rather than travellers checks when in a foreign cournty to get cash faster and at a better exchange rate.

Leave copies of your travel itinerary and PASSPORT with friends or family at home in case documents are lost or stolen or in case someone needs to reach you while you are traveling.

Reconfirm flights gefore departing for the airport and check weather conditions ahead of time to be prepared for last minute delays and cancellations.

Bring ziplock bags in a variety of sizes.  They are useful for packing snacks, wet laundry, trash, organizing film, keeping electronics dry, etc.

Purchase travel insurance before your trip, to cover everything from trip cancellation to lost baggage and medical expenses while travelling, and making sure you have access to 24/7 travel assistance.

Sleeve and waist detail According to the New York Design Team of Doncaster, the key for Summer 2008 is to BE DETAIL ORIENTED.

“As we have noted in the last few seasons, details are IMPORTANT. The sleeve keeps getting attention whether it’s ruffles or ruching - keep your eye on the arm.

Details are also not wasted on the waist, self-cinching and belts are still a must. Look for subtle details as well; from stitching to piping and pleating - all will become more obvious indicators of quality as this return to refinement takes flight.”

White BlouseFollowing the recent past seasons, the blouse continues to be an important element of the wardrobe for Spring and Summer 2008.  For Spring and Summer, we are seeing bright colors in addition to the beautiful whites of the past seasons.  Whatever color you choose, be sure that it is crisp and well tailored, like these treasures from the Spring/Summer collections at Doncaster.

WHETHER THEY ARE EMBELLISHED….  buttoned down, or wrapped around - the BLOUSE is going from the office to on the town. The blouse is becoming increasingly more important; we have seen it move

from fashion underpinning, to tunic, to party blouse, to everyday button down to versions that suggest a western feel. The blouse has become more than just a secondary garment; it has claimed its right be

an important stand-alone. From the clean lines of a classic, to the smart elegance of a wrap, to the increasingly chic tunic, they are relevant and will be seen in everything from the brightest whites to the

prettiest prints and glowing metallics.Lime Blouse
