Fall is a great time of year for social events!  On Saturday night, we are attending a Fall gala benefit for Innvision at Club Motor Sport:  From Innvision With Love.  It will be lots of fun to get all dressed up for each other and transport ourselves into the world of James Bond:  high roller casinos, beautiful cars and beautiful people impeccably dressed!  And of course…the food…

So what to wear to your gala event? 

If you are wearing a favorite from your closet, shift the look from “back of closet” to “notched up vintage”.:

• Be sure that it is expertly tailored
• Match with a piece of chunky jewelry and high quality boots, sandals or stilettos

If you are looking for a new favorite, be smart about your purchase

• Look for pieces that can be be worn many different ways with things that are already in your closet
• Day to evening is the best bet for getting the most out of your investment
• Pieces that look great through the seasons with a change of jacket or shoes is always good for an investment
• Pieces that are well made look the best;  are less expensive to alter; and hold up to many wearings and cleanings.

Its the first week of Fall and this LBD is a party waiting to happen.  Elegant, sexy, easy to wear and dramatic yet understated.  The Perfect LBD for cocktail parties or an elegant evening out. 

A ruched halter bodice in soft, drapey matte jersey with a built in padded bra makes this LBD very wearable and comfortable while the fully lined taffeta skirt that falls below the knee makes this a dress to wear out on the town. A slender crystal ornament highlights the fitted waist. 

Accessorize as much or as little as you like.  High heel strappy sandals or peep toes shoes will only add to the elegance.

One of the big trends this season are exposed zippers.  Zippers are everywhere.  Zippers on jeans.  Zippers on boots.  Zippers on handbags.  Zippers on jackets.  This is a fun trend but the wearer needs to be very careful when wearing this zipper trend not to add unwanted bulk or draw the eyes to the thighs, hips, waist, bust, etc.  Wear the zipper where you want to draw the eye. 

The ankle boots and pumps with exposed zippers are a great way to wear the trend.  However, there are some cheap looking shoes out there with exposed zippers that just look trashy.  You want to wear the zipper, not have it wear you. 

My solution is to look for a shoe like this Leala Bootie from one of my favorite designers, Donald Pliner.  These mid heel ankle boots have an exposed zipper, and a beautiful style that will complement any foot and construction for comfort all day.
