Dov Padeh Fine Jewelry at www.delamina.comThe greatest silver lining I have found in all of this economic doom and gloom is a return to innovation and creativity.  Case in point, Delamina.  The creative combination of the highly acclaimed Bay Area gemologist, Steve Silver and the branding savvy of professional ballerina turned marketing strategist Cheryl Black, Delamina is positioning itself to revolutionalize the way that women buy jewelry.

Why Delamina?    Steve believes that the jewelry industry is ripe for changes in the supply chain. He feels strongly that designers and suppliers need more information. They need to know where their pieces are, who is interested in them, when they are sold. They need feedback so that they can create pieces that resonate with their customers. He created Delamina to give jewelry designers and suppliers transparency and access to their customers.”   “Because most jewelry sales come from women buying for themselves, but you’d never know it from the shopping experience.

Cheryl believes strongly that it is time for a change in the way jewelry is marketed. She created Delamina to be a place where women can shop for jewelry in a respectful, relaxed environment. Where they can buy beautiful pieces for themselves. Where they will never feel intimidated or ignorant. Where jewelry comes with a story, not just a science lesson. Where the experience is about finding your own style, not blindly following fashion.”

Recently, my friends at Delamina staged a little contest, “Because”.  They asked their readership to submit their best ending to a sentence pertaining to jewelry and beginning with Because…  The winner for the month of April was “Because you’re never too old to play dress up.”  This “Because” was symbolized by a famous Norman Rockwell painting of a little girl looking on while her mother got dressed up for an evening out.  Do you have an idea for a “Because” statement?  Click here to enter the contest.

That was it.  I was inspired to write my latest series for Delamina on famous mothers and daughters.  So, each week, a new article appears that highlights a famous duo.  We started off the series with the Obamas.  Who else for Earth Day but a posthumous tribute to Linda McCartney and an eco-hats off to Stella?  This week, we chose to honor Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and her daughter Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg.  There are so many great ones, we can keep this theme fresh for a while.
