I am going into my sixth year as a Doncaster consultant. And I am still surprised by what the design team can do to notch up an LBD and make it just a little more special. This fall, the Noir Dress in Stretch Viscose Jersey has an adorable draping right at the waist. Every dress is clearly not for every body but this draping and the overall construction of the dress is going to make the dress an “it” for many body types that struggle with where to hide that tummy pooch other than inside a tent!
The draping at the front gives it a trendy feel but the look and feel of the dress is elegant classic. And the level of workmanship in the details makes its couture. No bulkiness or distraction is added to the dress by a concealed dyed-to-match zipper closure at back, while the criss crossed draping detail at front waist and self-belt at waist with self-covered buckle closure elongate the body, accentuate the curves and conceal the stomach. The final elegant touches include a vent at center back hem and full lining.

Over the weekend, Nordstrom relaunched its website. Perusing through the site, it is apparent that there are substantial teeth to the overhaul.
I have noticed updates and patches for the past several years that were clearly aimed at continuing that Personal Shopper experience that Nordstrom is so famous for. There have been lots of video tips, blogs and interactive information. It just didn’t hang together very well. The makeover seems to have made the bells and whistles much easier to work with while adding a few more tricks. In the past, the site has been somewhat slow to load and cumbersome to work with. I look forward to a slicker, faster moving site that is not dragged down by a ten year old website with too many plugins.
One of the things that really bugged me was the clutter on the home page. Now are there are only three tabs. And from those tabs, there is improved navigation, improved photography and better opportunities to search for inventory. It has much more of that Nordstrom Concierge experience from the brick and mortar. The social networking and video blogging sections of the website is aply named “Conversation.” There are plans to include local features on the site, further tying the brick and mortar to the internet in a seamless way.

I have been wearing clogs since high school. When they are in style I wear them everywhere and when they are not, I wear them around the house. Good clogs are comfortable, fashionable and great for my flat feet and sensitive back. My two favorite brands have always been Cole Haan for a heel and Dansko for flat. Well, Dansko just jumped right into the heel category with the Rae Clog. This clog has a very attractive and moderately chunky 3” heel with a 3/4” platform, making it very wearable as an all day shoe by most women. The heel itself is substantial enough to comfortably support the platform without feeling like you are going to fall off of it. Yet, it has a fashioned look to it so that it does not appear overly chunky.
Endless provides the best writeups I have found in the industry. Here is what Endless.com has to say about the Dansko Rae clog:
“Ahhhhh, Dansko. There you go again. Doing your all-day comfort thing. Making us feel so good on our feet. With excellent arch support and legendary comfort, you let us stand longer than ever. And with great styles in a range of heel heights, you have us feeling all tingly inside, just like the day we first met. When wife and husband team, Mandy Cabot and Peter Kjellerup discovered the world’s most comfortable shoe in a tiny shop in Denmark in 1990, they just had to bring some home for their friends. When their friends tried them on, they told their friends. And just like that, a shoe company was born. Now Dansko not only sells their original clogs, but also heels, boots, sandals, wedges and flats too! Every style features the Dansko DNA - materials and construction carefully selected to promote good foot, leg and back health, so that you can stand better, for longer. Say goodbye to choosing between looking good and feeling good. And say hello to having it all.”

I recently attended the 10th Annual eWomen Network Conference in Dallas, Texas and had my picture taken with Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos.com right after he signed my book. eWomen is a fantastic organization that primarily supports small business owners. So what is eWomen and what was Tony Hsieh, who is clearly a guy, CEO of Zappos, which is clearly NOT a small business, doing there, you may be asking by now. During the 4-day conference, the attendees are treated to a broad assortment of speakers who provide inspiration, insight and technical expertise to give women many needed tools to run their own business. Tony was one of our speakers. He recently penned a book, “Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion and Purpose” on customer loyalty and corporate culture. And yes, I was wearing a great pair of shoes from Zappos!
I have always loved Zappos.com and am incredibly proud to partner with Zappos.com as an affiliate. What I mean by an affiliate is that I recommend their products that I really like on my site and if you like them too and click through, Zappos.com shows the love by sending me a small token of appreciation. With Zappos.com, its a win-win-win: for you, the customer; for me, the blogger; and for zappos.com.
Before hearing Tony speak, I thought you got the best straw. But afterwards, I have decided that Tony Hsieh is having a great time at a job he loves. And that’s a winner for all of us!

Today, we had our Fall District meeting for Doncaster where all of our local sellers came together to talk about the trends for Fall 2010. Basically, clothing is becoming a little more feminine and a little less chunky for Fall. You will still see a lot of wedges in the Fall but more heels, especially kitten heels. As far as clothing, there is still a lot of hardware but the grommets have definitely softened. There is still a lot of rouching and draping. Tops, jackets and sweaters are still below the waist with a plenty of belting options. There is still a lot of black, brown and beige with pops of red, orange, blue and purple. Skirts are every length while dresses are still short. Separates are still the way of the season. As far as pants, the two most typical styles are leggings and flared legs. Lace, ribbons and ruffles are players this season as well. The look and feel is definitely comfortable with great latitude for dressing in what makes you look and feel your best.
It’s going to be a beautiful season. Click here to learn more.
